About MAGS Trucking

MAGS Trucking in Arkansas

MAGS Trucking, Inc is a family owned and operated business. In the 1980’s, Gary Smith, started hauling grain and milk for other farmers in Arkansas, in addition to farming. Though the years The Smith’s have made a number of transitions from grain and milk hauling into the company MAGS is today. During this time, they moved from one truck to several, being leased to SMT, Crete, LandAir, Fleetone and others.

In 1995 when Dewayne graduated from ASU with a business/transportation degree they decided to try a new venture. The Smith’s applied for and were granted their own operating authority by the DOT and Dewayne began driving while Gary started finding loads for him to haul. Business began to take off and as it did as they began bringing all of their leased trucks slowly under the authority of MAGS Trucking, Inc. Dewayne had to come off the road as a full-time driver to manage the day-to-day operations, and Mary Ann and Sherry joined them work full time in the office.

In 1999 the company moved to its current location but has never left the city of Cabot, where several generations of Smiths have made their home since the 1890’s. Over the years the company has been through many changes but two things haven’t changed. MAGS Trucking, Inc a is 100% dry van fleet Gary said, I don’t like tarping in the rain (Flatbeds), sleeping in front of a reefer (produce) or worrying about the temperature of my load (milk hauling) so I won’t ask anyone else to do it, and Gary still tells those calling to apply for a job that “we don’t have bosses, we all have a job to do and so long as everyone does their job we won’t have any problems”.

We are very unique in the industry in that when you call the office Gary and Dewayne are more than likely going to answer. The owners are here every day answering the phones and dispatching, this is why we believe our driver turnover rate is so low, because even after all these years in business we still don’t ask anyone to do anything they haven’t done and aren’t willing to do ourselves. See what our employees say.
